Some Mistakes Were Made by Kristin Dwyer

“It was why tears are falling down my cheeks. Not because of Sundry’s kindness, but because of all the people who are supposed to be kind and aren’t.”

This heartbreaking novel follows Ellis, a girl who seems to always have the short end of the stick. But at least she had Easton, her bestfriend. Until everyone who had promised to not give up on Ellis sends her halfway across the country, far away from everything she has ever known.

We meet Ellis when she hasn’t spoken to Easton in a year. But now she is heading back home for a celebration, with an invite from Easton’s mother, she finds herself tangled up in heartache, betrayal and the anger she left behind.

This book made me cry worse than most. And I think it’s because it made me angry for Ellis. I’ve met people like Ellis and I understand their anger. And I have been the people that help Ellis and I understand their perspective. But a huge part of me wanted to watch her walk away and not forgive the people who didn’t give her the benefit of the doubt.

While Some Mistakes Were Made brought out a lot of emotions, it was a bit too long and I think the story could have been a bit more satisfying at different parts, but I still enjoyed the story.

Only read this one if you want to cry.
