Yes. I am rating a fanfiction. But at least it is a 370,256 word fanfiction.

Manacled is a dark Dramione fanfiction. Dramione is the relationship name for Draco Malfoy and Hermione Granger, two characters who were never romantically involved in the original Harry Potter books. This “ship” I think stems from fans thinking Emma Watson and the blonde boy who played Draco in the movies should have been together. They had chemistry and friendship and admitted to crushes. And then that has translated into their characters having chemistry – thus the fanfictions. Either that or I really didn’t pay attention while reading Harry Potter. As a note, I only read them once, I like the movies better, and if Universal’s Harry Potter World did not exist I probably would have forgotten about them by now. 

Back to the fanfiction.

Harry Potter is dead. And Voldemort suddenly cares about something other than his own self preservation, so he enacts a repopulation effort. Very Handmaid’s Tale. Very disturbing. But get past the first half and you will be as hooked as me. The first half is ROUGH. and dark. If you can manage (think every single content warning) you will enjoy the rest.

Hermione is important because she has a secret that is lost but hidden in her mind, so she is sent as an enslaved surrogate to the High Reeve, to be bred and monitored until her mind can be cracked. And yes obviously the High Reeve is Draco.

This fanfiction is better written than Harry Potter but as a warning it is not for the faint of heart.
